“Life is too short to drink bad wine.” And in Ibiza there is no excuse, with the number of fabulous bars to choose from. Here are just five of our favourite wine bars in Ibiza.
Bar 1805 Carrer Santa Llúcia, Ibiza Town
Bar 1805 is the brainchild of cocktail artisan Charles Vexenat, a Frenchman with a passion for fine wine, food and cocktails. Charles learned his trade as an apprentice of some of the world’s most highly regarded barmen and has himself received numerous industry awards for his creations during his career. His bar in Ibiza Town has become a celebrated place to visit, because of its extensive wine list, cool ambience and excellent food. The wine list is, unsurprisingly very French orientated, with prices ranging from 18€ to 58€. We recommend the Pouilly Fume 2011, a very reasonable 48€ and an excellent year.
Vino & Co – Carretera de Sant Antoni – Eivissa, km 1.6 Sant Jordi
Vino & Co is the one stop shop for wine lovers in Ibiza. The incredibly well stocked store is a veritable treasure trove of wine based delight. With hundreds upon hundreds of wines from all over the globe, they remain true to their roots by ensuring that 80% of their wines are from Spanish wineries. Established in 2009, the company offer wholesale wines to local businesses as well as individuals. In the wine bar you can order at least 20 wines by the glass, a selection that changes throughout the year to reflect the seasons. You can also order every other bottle from the shop, with a € 10 corkage fee.
KM5 – Ctra. Sant Josep km 5.6
This stylish and elegant bar and restaurant is a famous Ibiza hotspot. Its sumptuous decor, beautiful gardens and excellent restaurant means it pops up constantly on ‘must visit’ lists. With dj’s, parties and fashion shows throughout the summer, it’s a real place to see and be seen. The bar is a favourite hangout for visiting celebrities and supermodels who flock to enjoy the opulent ambience, and of course, the wine. The wine list is extensive and broken down into countries and regions, with a fabulous selection of rare wines and vintages.
Ibo Ibiza C/Emili Pou 6, Puerto de Ibiza
Located in the heart of the bustling old port area, this pretty bar is decorated in an eclectic style. The whitewashed walls and spotlit floor give it a bohemian vibe. With a wide variety of wines to choose from, the only problem you will have is which one to try next! Reasonable prices and friendly and well informed staff make it one of our top 5.
Hidden – Cala San Vicente Bay
Hidden (excuse the pun! ) away in the beautiful bay of Cala San Vicente, this quirky bar and restaurant is reminiscent of stepping onto the set of Alice in Winderland. With its crazy gold course, eclectic decoration and pretty gardens, Hidden is a unique concept, run by Chris Edwardes and Amanda Blanch. Chris is one of the world’s leading experts on cocktails, with many awards under his belt. As well as their innovative cocktail list, they have also carefully curated an excellent selection of wines to delight their customers.
